Comments from the Committee Chair: The agenda of the Pan Arab board for the year 2011included the finalization of 3 issues: Bylaws, Journal and Congress. Unfortunately, this year was full of turbulence in many Arab countries that resulted in delay of many activities. The only accomplished item was the publishing of the first two issues of the Pan Arab federation Journal of Anaesthesia: Research and Essay. Although, the preparation and organization of the 10th Pan Arab congress in Damascus was proceeding perfectly, yet we were obliged first to postpone it and then cancel it for the events occurring in Syria. A decision was taken to change the hosting country and date to Beirut, Lebanon, October 2013. A draft of the bylaws was approved in Sharja in 2009, but required the finalization of the procedure. This could not be accomplished for the lack of communication and inability to meet in Damascus. The term of the committee was supposed to end during the 10th congress by the election of the new board of PAFSA in 2011. The process was postponed for failure to gather the general assembly and actual committee will continue to act until the next election in 2013. Acting chair: Dr Yehia Khater |
