Letter of Invitation
Dear Colleague,
Re: WFSA Advisory Group
It has been apparent to those who have worked with WFSA for a while, that every 4 years we lose a great wealth of talent from our committees because their time in office has been served. Many of those people would like to contribute more and there is not a simple way to permit this in our Constitution.
During the last Executive Committee meeting (London March 2010), it was decided to create a WFSA Advisory Group. Any past member of any WFSA committee will be invited to join this Group. This will be a very valuable group of volunteers who have served WFSA with distinction in the past and who wish to continue to offer advice on request or spontaneously.
It is thought that the Office in London would circulate copies of relevant minutes from those committees on which members used to serve. This would allow them to maintain their knowledge about the activities of the WFSA. The final goal is to take advantage of their experience and to help the current committees to achieve the WFSA goals.
Since you left the WFSA many things may have changed. The WFSA is now embarking on a very new type of project which will be a huge challenge both logistically and financially. This Global Pulse Oximetry project will have a huge impact on the safe practice of anaesthesia around the world. We will send you reports about this matter soon.
Regretfully no funding would be provided by the WFSA for this Advisory Group, but we might hope to hold an informal social event at each WCA for members of the group who are present.
We would like you to join but will not be offended if you decline this invitation. Please let me know your views either directly or via the WFSA office.
Yours sincerely,
Gonzalo Barreiro
WFSA Deputy Secretary
